I’m Attracting Fake Followers
What’s their end game?

Have you checked your recent Medium followers list?
Maybe you didn’t know you had so many fans who love idioms and adages.
Markc- Can’t squeeze blood from a turnip
Sallyp- One man’s trash is another man’s treasure
Donnak- Hot as blue blazes
I mean really, is this one person? Are they really paying $5 a month for a fake account? And to what end?
I have another account. Her pseudonym follows me too, but that account actually is for writing articles under a pen name. You understand why. I wrote a few articles there which needed to be written, but cannot be under my name. I hope to develop my writing there too.
However, I really can’t understand why people might troll this way. How do these accounts gain anything? Maybe they are trying to get me to click on something that will cause a virus. Maybe they are trying to sell me something or get my private information.
I looked at one of those accounts and the one or two articles posted seem like complete nonsense. What algorithm is Cathyr- Every rose has its thorn- messing with?
I know I am not alone here. And I know Medium has been made aware of this issue. I just want to know why. Anybody out there have a clue? Or should I just let this play itself out, leave well enough alone, or wait until it’s out of sight, out of mind?
