It’s Cool When You Don’t Meet Your Goals
Just get back to them
The word of the week is PATIENCE.
Working towards our goals can seem very tedious. I am someone who really likes to see that checked box. I am obsessed with meeting my own deadlines, and I can be a bit of a perfectionist. Sound familiar?
I tend to work too much, sleep too little, and feed my anxiety loop. I have room to grow.
What I have learned this week is that it is ok to go off course. It is fine to let things slide when high priority things come up. The important thing is to get back on the path when you can.
This week, I was traveling like a lot of you. I did not keep up with ALL of my writing goals. I found it hard to find a time to write when surrounded by relatives and holiday gatherings. When I had some time to myself, I worked on my writing projects and I read a lot of your work.
It was the slowing down I clearly needed.
December is not over. I think I can get back on my path tomorrow. But for now, I am going to sleep knowing that I have worked really hard this month. My writing aspirations are happening, and I have big projects coming up for 2020.
This is a reminder to myself and to anyone who may read this: Take a break.
