lather with lavender from toe tip to heart
gather with friends you’ve wondered about
shake out the rugs from winter’s attic
and wake me to hear the mourning dove

I think I’ll walk the trail today
and cool my feet at the Eno River
and remember why I am to breathe
and that I still know how to sing
