Where I teach, we have had zero student and staff COVID-19 cases from August until November.
Those are really good stats and we made it until the week after Thanksgiving break before three cases emerged. Even with pleading and asking for community responsibility around decisions to travel, people did what they do. I get it. We all have been separated from family and friends for so long.

So now, the decision has been made. We will switch to virtual learning for a week after the winter break. I really hope people think long and hard about what staying home for the holidays this year can mean to the well-being of our kids. They need to be together at school.

Wear your masks, keep your distance, and wash your hands, people! These risk mitigations work when maintained consistently. Please do your part for the community.
