Writing Goals for August
I could use a double dose of accountability
I joined a Facebook group that is holding a week-long creativity challenge. Thank you to Sam Kimberle for hosting and leading this challenge! Yesterday I worked on goal-setting for the week. She asked us to write two.
One of my overall goals is to publish and post more non-fiction and journal articles. If you read my work, you know my passion is in poetry. However, as a veteran English teacher, I know I need to practice other genres.
Goal 1: By Tuesday, I will create a non-fiction editorial calendar for the month of August with plans to write two articles a day. I am still an analog girl, and I love my bullet journal. Not only do I need to see my goals written out, checklists and trackers help keep my life organized. Balancing a new school year with my writing goals will be tricky. With my tracker I can watch how my daily actions lead me to the bigger goal.
Goal one done!
Goal 2: By Friday, I will have posted/published at least 6 non-fiction or journal articles. Goal 2 almost accomplished!
I set some bigger goals for myself to achieve by the end of the year.
By the end of 2020, I will consistently earn enough money through my writing to cover my monthly student loan debt payment.
One of the ways I will achieve this is by writing more and appealing to more audiences. My first goal for this week will help me for the entire month. The month of August will show me how the planned daily actions get me closer to the bigger goal.
At the end of the month, I will analyze my decisions in order to plan for September’s goals.
